Nexodus is a collective of Detroit creators dedicated to breaking free from obscurity and building a new era of visibility, creativity, and collaboration. Rooted in the largest majority-Black city in the nation—the heart of Detroit—we focus on amplifying Black and minority voices while opening the door for all Detroit-based creators who put in the work. Presented by HersheKissis, we’re here to connect, create, and push each other to the next stage. Inspired by the spirit of the “book of Exodus,” Nexodus is about the next generation’s come-up — delivering ourselves from being slept on to being seen, heard, and respected. Together we rise, shine, and put Detroit on the map, all while making sure nobody gets left behind.
At Nexodus, our mission is to uplift and inspire Black youth creators in Detroit by taking overlooked talent and flipping the script. Here’s how we do it:
We seek out the most slept-on creators — artists, writers, musicians, streamers, skaters, and more — who aren’t getting the recognition they deserve.
With nearly a decade of growth and a community of over 200,000 followers, we extend our platform to amplify their voices, their content, and their creativity.
We help creators do a 360 on their visibility — reversing obscurity by connecting them with new audiences, bigger opportunities, and increased recognition.
It’s not just about clout. We push to connect creators with funding, resources, and opportunities so their craft can actually sustain them.
We provide structured, supportive environments where youth can perform, showcase, collaborate, and grow — without worrying about safety or being overlooked.
Every creator we work with gets opportunity after opportunity. It’s up to them to take advantage, but we make sure the doors are open.
