Karis Robinson-Larsosa is a social media influencer and content creator with over 200,000 followers and a quarter million across all platforms. She graduated as valedictorian from Marygrove High School and currently attends Wayne State University as a law major. Originally majoring in film, she made the switch after eight years of creating and producing content, seeking a new challenge while continuing to channel her creativity through social media and storytelling.
Beyond her academic journey, she has been deeply involved in social justice and community advocacy. She co-owns Pages Bookstore and has participated in programs such as the Mama Lila Fellowship and the Wayne County Commission Youth Council. Today, she leads the Heartbeat Bridge Media Project under the Marriage and Fatherhood Fund, part of her broader leadership within HersheKissis, the sister trio she co-founded. In the group, she serves as both director and community outreach coordinator.
Her work spans multiple disciplines—film, social media, organizing, and most recently, music. As an organizer, she curates events designed to uplift, inspire, and recognize youth, especially those who often go unseen or unheard. Her mission is to create safe spaces where young people can express themselves freely and confidently, something she once longed for herself.
Growing up attending a majority-Latino school, she often struggled with insecurity around her Blackness, her hair, and her voice. Searching online for ways to start conversations, she instead discovered something greater: the power of content creation. Inspired by other creators, she asked her mother if she could begin producing videos. Her mom’s response—“Why not bring your sisters along? Three is better than one.”—became the foundation of HersheKissis.
Now, after years of building a platform and cultivating an audience, she is committed to sharing it—not just with her sisters, but with the entire city of Detroit. Through HersheKissis and the newly launched Nexodus, she is dedicated to amplifying young Black creators, ensuring that the next generation of talent has the recognition, resources, and community support they deserve.
